Your first session will require completion of a provided Client Intake Form. We will discuss problem areas and treatment goals. We suggest our 90-minute session for first appointments. This will allow us time to properly assess problem areas and to begin treatment.

You can wear anything you would like. However, we do recommend comfortable loose fitting clothing. We may assess fully clothed in a massage chair first. Once we come up with our treatment plan for the session, we will then provide further instruction for you. Upon getting on the table we may ask you to undress to comfort level, but at all times you will be modestly draped. We leave the room during the time that you need to get undressed and on the table. We give instruction on how to lay on the table and how to cover yourself with our draping. We always knock before entering the room, to ensure that you are ready for the practitioner to enter the room. Only the area that is being worked on at the time will be exposed. In no circumstance will we work on the breast or genital areas. Areas of work are always discussed between the practitioner and the client prior to starting the treatment. Clear communication, boundaries and comfort are key to our treatments. It is nothing to worry about. If at any time you want to adjust something, please do not hesitate to let us know and we will do so.

Collaborative, honest, and straightforward. We're here to guide the process, bring ideas to the table, and keep things moving.

At any time, if you are uncomfortable or do not like something that we are providing, you can let the practitioner know and they will stop. Communication is very important. If you feel you don’t like a specific technique, just tell us and we will not use that technique any longer. If you are uncomfortable on the table and need to re-adjust, just let us know and we will aim to getting you into a more comfortable position. If you feel sick during treatment, we will stop the treatment, just let us know. If there is something that you really enjoy, let us know and we can make sure to spend more time with that technique or area of work.

Unlike relaxation massage, Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) identifies hyperirritable trigger points and uses focused, alternating pressure, to stop pain referral patterns.
-
Pressure can feel intense, especially when working with a hyperirritable spot. However, it should feel productive. Communicating pressure tolerance is key. In order to create a space for balance between the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, we like to find the sweet spot for pressure. That can be different for each individual. If you want a little less or a little more, we know how to adjust our pressure. We constantly check in with the provided pressure, as comfort with pressure level is very important for proper healing and recovery.

Poor posture, trauma, repetitive motion and stress, lead to ischemia (lack of blood flow) and nerve compression in soft tissues.
-
Mild muscle soreness for 24-48 hours is normal, followed by a noticeable reduction in tension and better range of motion. Mild temporary bruising can occasionally occur. This happens as tight tissues release and circulation of blood flow restores to the tissue. Don’t worry, it should resolve quickly on it’s own.

At this time we are not currently accepting insurance, however we are more than willing to provide documentation from our treatment session that you can then provide to your insurance provider. They may issue a re-imbursement, but we do not work directly with any insurance providers. There is no guarantee that your insurance provider will accept our treatment documentation for re-imbursement. You may want to call your insurance provider and speak with them directly to ask if Neuromuscular Therapy is something they will re-imburse you for.
